What is ReikiReiki is a system of natural healing, using the laying-on of hands, that is probably thousands of years old.
The actual words Rei and Ki are thought to come from Raku-Kei in the Japanese language. Raku is the vertical energy flow, and Kei is the horizontal energy flow through the body. Raku-Kei is the art and science of self-improvement used by ancient Tibetan lamas thousands of years ago. Rei - Universal/Spiritual Wisdom - Reiki practitioners interpret this as the Higher Spiritual (or All Knowing) Consciousness. This understands the root cause and, therefore, the cure for all problems and difficulties. Ki - The Life Force - Ki surrounds and animates all life and is the primary source of our thoughts, emotions and spiritual existence. Ki is used by all healers, regardless of their belief systems. It is the non-physical energy that can be accumulated by the body and guided by the will. Rei-Ki - Reiki, therefore, can be defined as the spiritually guided Universal Life Force This is the most accepted interpretation of the word, and sums up the experience most people have of the energy. |

What is Reflexology? The feet are a mirror of the body.
Reflexology is a natural non invasive, holistic therapy that is well established and respected in the field of complementary medicine. As the name implies Reflexology is thought to activate the body’s reflexes. The massage technique aims to stimulate the nerve endings in the feet and sends signals along the nerve pathways to the central nervous system where they are processed and filtered to the corresponding part of the body or organ being worked on. Reflexology restores the free flow of energy circulation within and around the body and aims to restore balance and well being by activating the body’s own healing process. Different parts of the feet are thought to correspond to different organs, glands, and other key areas of the body. A Reflexologist can sometimes feel energy blockages and tensions in the reflex arc. This can sometime feel cold or warm to the client or sometimes tender. This can signify further work in that reflex area. All the systems need to work together well to maintain a healthy balance. Stress, injury or illness can cause the balance to be disrupted when component parts are less effective. Problems canthen be compounded by the fact that the rest of the body works harder to compensate, potentially causing problems. |
Reactions during the treatment can range from physical to emotional and may include:- • Perspiration of hands or feet • Sensation of being cold or chilled • Feeling light-headed • Coughing • Laughing • Crying • Overwhelming desire to sleep • Disappearance of all pain and discomfort • Loose, relaxed muscles • Feeling like all organs are hanging freely, not stressed and connected • Thirst After your treatment it is recommended that you drink plenty of water or herbal tea to flush out toxins and reduce headaches. Avoid drinking tea, coffee or alcohol for about 12 hours after the treatment. This helps prevent dehydration and introduction of more toxins. |
